Safeguarding Policy

Save the Child Foundation is committed to protecting children, young people and adults at risk from harm, abuse, neglect, exploitation and inappropriate conduct. Everyone connected with our work should be treated with dignity, respect and care.

Our commitment

We take safeguarding concerns seriously. We aim to create safe environments, listen carefully to concerns, act promptly and share information only where necessary to protect someone from harm.

Who this policy applies to

This policy applies to everyone working with or representing the Foundation, including trustees, staff, volunteers, partners and contractors. It also informs visitors and supporters about the standards we expect.

Raising a concern

To raise a safeguarding concern, email info@bertinsgroup.co.uk with the subject line “Safeguarding Concern”. This is the Foundation’s interim safeguarding contact while a named Safeguarding Lead is appointed. Please provide only the information needed to explain the concern, and avoid sharing sensitive details publicly or through social media.

What happens next

Concerns will be handled sensitively, recorded appropriately and assessed as quickly as possible. Where necessary, we may contact the police, local authority safeguarding services, emergency services or other appropriate agencies. We will not promise complete confidentiality where information must be shared to keep a child or person safe.

Safe working practice

We expect people representing the Foundation to maintain professional boundaries, avoid behaviour that could place a child or adult at risk, obtain appropriate consent for photographs and stories, and follow safer recruitment and checking practices where roles require them.

Review

We will review this policy at least annually and sooner after any serious incident, material change to our activities or new safeguarding guidance.
